Example: I need to write 3 text files.

I need to monitor real time business layer events and display the status messages like "processing... ", "File 1 - done", "File 2 - done" ... in the update panel at presentation layer.

Like a real time status bar displaying messages from other layers.

Is it possible in a web application?

you are like a teacher for me

i have been learning Ajax by your awsome motion tutorial, but i have a question . i noticed that whenever we want to use update progress it's required to use a button-click event, is that right? .in my case, we have a modal panel that made with modal extender with a sql connection on it .user enter something and then click on the save or add button , page will do postback, but i can't show a little tiny progress bar just for three secondes on the main page. i mean my knowledge is limited . i am sure is doable but i don't know how to do that...thank you so much
