Please note that the topic of storing BLOB in a file system vs DB is a huge one and has many more details that require consideration. For instance, MS SQL Server naturally supports scalability, reliability (through AlwaysOn, mirroring), transactions, data compression, provides better means for concurrency resolution, backups, etc.
