In this webcast, we discuss how to tune a Web server for speed and efficiency, from the hosting
environment to specific configurations settings for various high-usage scenarios. We start
the session by reviewing the new Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0 architecture with
regards to performance, and then we take a look at some environmental configuration options.
Next, we quickly review Microsoft ASP.NET applications, and we discuss how to tune IIS 7.0
for the best performance with dynamic and semi-dynamic content, including using the new Output
Caching feature. Then we talk about some scenarios where network storage solutions, Microsoft
SQL Server databases, and other components are involved, and we discuss how to optimize the
throughput of the Web solution as a whole. Finally, we take a look at some of the tools provided
in Windows Server 2008 that can help measure performance and diagnose optimization issues.
